Jaykob Matteo is a guitarist, songwriter, and touring musician. He has spent years on the road as a professional touring guitarist, tour manager, and merch manager, logging stages across the US, UK, and Europe with a reputation for being exactly who you want beside you on tour — professional, dedicated, and a genuinely good hang.
In 2024, facing the weight of being the sole provider for his family — his partner, her son, and their newborn daughter — Jaykob made the difficult decision to step off the road and accept a stable career in coffee roasting. He bought a house. He was there for his daughter's first year. He showed up. Then, without warning, the company announced it was selling the division and his team would cease to exist.
The roots go deep. At 15, Jaykob had the privilege of playing on Sevendust's tour bus — performing "Got a Feeling" from their album Black Out the Sun. Sevendust posted the video to their official Facebook page, and the clip eventually found its way to the homepage of Eddie Van Halen's 5150 website. Not a bad start. Not long after, he recorded a six-song collaboration with Clint Lowery that has never been released, a session that exists somewhere between a footnote and a secret. Through his work with Pablo Diaz Fanjul in As Everyone, he and Pablo collaborated twice with Kinetic 9 of Killarmy — a Wu-Tang affiliate — with one track landing on each of the two As Everyone albums.
Any band would be lucky to have him.
The guitar never left. It never does. For Jaykob it isn't just an instrument — it's the clearest picture of who he is. Over the years he has developed a master fingerpicking style all his own, with a true love found in classical guitar. Yet his love for metal, hardcore, and rock will never end. As much as he loves his family without condition, that's how deep the music runs. He's back, looking for the next road, the next band, the next stage. Any band would be lucky to have him.
